Small Projects to Refresh Your Home

We manage the design concepts for client homes that come in all shapes and sizes. This is wonderful for us, of course, because we are able to see a variety of spaces evolve into something new. Remodeling your home is a big undertaking, and we take each job and each task very seriously. Our goal is to make a space versatile enough that you don’t feel stuck with a design. So, in between your big remodeling projects, we recommend some of the smaller ones to help refresh the place you call home.

Home Gardens If your thumb is a little on the brown side, don’t worry – there are plenty of plants that are immune to defective green thumbs. Home gardens are a growing trend among homeowners.

Start simple with an herb garden. Many of them fare well inside. Sit it on a windowsill that receives adequate sunlight (about 8 hours) and water it accordingly. The Half Pint Garden starter kit by The Balcony Gardener comes with everything (except the water) to help you get started. If you’re still not convinced, you can always visit your local garden professional to get tips on which plants are best for a mini garden and require the least maintenance. They promote a healthy environment, add life to any room and can even help to shrink your grocery bill.

A Splash of Color

Color can be one of your home’s best assets. The standard cream wall intentionally adds little to a room. We suggest painting an accent wall to anchor a room’s theme. It’s like a statement piece for your home. At the same time, you don’t have to worry about committing to it on a grander scale like painting an entire room. The previously dazzling red wall has evolved to include patterns and prints. You can find ideas for accent walls from Houzz.com.

Your captivating splash of color doesn’t always have to be a wall. A loud piece of furniture, patterned rug or even a unique piece of art can do the trick.

Fixtures Some of the easiest things in a home to change out are fixtures. There are vast selections of cabinets, sinks, light fixtures, and doors that can turn your home into a modern wonder or a vintage showplace.  If you really want to put a twist on your home, there are even themed cabinet pulls designed like animals, people and familiar trinkets.

Replacing outdated sink fixtures can add a fresh look to your kitchen or bathroom. At Statewide Remodeling and other specialty stores, you can find the latest styles and metal finishes that will stand out from the common hardware store models.

The smaller projects are all about the details that refine your home design. If you’re ready to start a larger project, contact us for a free consultation. Our goal is to make your vision a reality, and we’ve been doing it for almost 20 years.
