Home is where the heart is—and the heart of a home is the kitchen, so it’s no surprise that open-kitchen floor plans have dominated home design for years, especially in new construction. But that doesn’t mean older homes can’t jump on this trend! We recently had the opportunity to work with a homeowner in Austin, Texas whose existing kitchen was blocked off by a living room wall – almost the opposite of an “open concept”. Together we designed a layout to optimize the space and visual appeal to give this homeowner exactly what they were looking for!

The first step to help this homeowner achieve a more open kitchen floor plan was to add a pass-though from the kitchen to the living room. There was an existing wall with standard cabinets and under-cabinet hood. To maximize space and create an optimal layout, the pass-through was added behind the range.

Project Details: Statewide Remodeling added a support beam for the passthrough, wall cutout, electrical work and appliance installation.

Part of having an open kitchen means that everyone is going to see it! With help from our design team, this homeowner picked some amazing finishes that helped create a more open and modern space.

Project Details: Statewide Remodeling installed new cabinets, countertops, flooring and appliances.

As many homeowners know, the cabinets and countertops can make or break a kitchen’s atheistic appeal and we think this homeowner’s choice was perfect in helping to create a more open space. Not to mention, they will never have to worry about future problems because the Quartz countertops and cabinets both have lifetime warranties!

Project details: Statewide Remodeling removed and replaced kitchen cabinets and countertops.

Cabinets: Durasupreme Cabinety; Door Style: Oxford Panel in White Paint; notable features: soft close doors and drawers and lifetime warranty. Countertops: Metro Quartz; 3 CM; Color: Ice; Edge: ½” Round; lifetime stain warranty.

Project Details: Statewide Remodeling removed and replaced kitchen sink and faucet.

Sink: Bella’s Tuscan BE-205; a classic 50/50 configuration in 16-gauge premium stainless steel with lifetime warranty. Faucet: Delta’s Esque Pull-out Spray Kitchen Faucet D9181TARDST with matching soap dispenser; Arctic “finger-print” resistant stainless steel, diamond seal ceramic disc, Touch2O hands-free touch on/off technology.

We couldn’t be more thrilled with how this project turned out! Not only did we achieve an open and modern look, but the kitchen will stay that way with the warranty guarantee provided by Statewide Remodeling!
