The first State Fair of Texas took place in January of 1886 when thousands of Texans came together to celebrate Texas lifestyle and community. While our grand state of Texas has certainly transformed in more ways than we can count since then, our proud tradition of the annual State fair lives on, as a place for Texans and visitors alike to celebrate all of the rich aspects of Lone Star culture.

This year, Statewide Remodeling is proud to be an official sponsor of the Texas State Fair. As local Texans, our team has been attending the State Fair since we were children ourselves, and we’re very excited to form a part in such a beloved tradition in our home state.

To share our excitement with our customers, we’ve put together this guide to some of this year’s fair activities that you can’t miss. Take a look at the list below and make sure to get your tickets early—and we’ll see you down at the 2018 State Fair this year!

Don’t Miss These Special Activities

The State Fair is renowned for its focus on fun for all the family and the diverse range of activities available. There truly is something for every Texan whether young, old, or in-between. Here are some of the highlights:

Butter Sculptures

Weird and wonderful butter sculptures appear at fairs across the U.S., but we all secretly know that the ones in Texas are the best!

There have been some remarkable sculptures over the years, and they always fit with the theme of the fair. Take two years ago, for instance, when artist Ken Robinson carved out his contribution, titled “Mount Muchmore,” which celebrated ordinary Texans who become unforgettable heroes.

Pig Races

There can’t be a State Fair of Texas without the pig races! These cute little piglets will duke it out three times a day in the Pan Am Arena to find out which is the fastest. This activity is fun for children and adults alike—these races are as unpredictable as they are adorable!

Livestock Barns

If you want to get closer to Texas’ livestock, take a stroll through the barns. Here, you’ll get close to some of the finest livestock reared in Texas. Marvel at the strength and beauty of these beautiful animals and also educate your children about them with a hands-on lesson at the petting zoo.

Miniature Farm

Go from the big to the small: visit the miniature farm to help your children meet new little friends and learn about the process of how food makes its way from the farm to their table. While this is an activity focused on children, it’s still definitely a fun thing to do as an adult!

The Pee Wee Stampede

Is your child adventurous? Do they harbor a deep love for the cowboy life? This is their chance to make their dreams a reality! They can put on their finest gear and get involved with mock rodeo events, spurred on by the roar of the crowd.

Watch the School Bands Enter the Cotton Bowl Stadium

Texas is home to some of the best school bands in the country. Watching them enter the Cotton Bowl Stadium is a sight to behold! Their powerful instruments carve out a path through the crowds, and each year thousands enjoy supporting the talent of school bands from across the state.

See the Starlight Parade

This parade takes place each night and transports visitors to a strange and exhilarating world. Illuminated floats, strange life-size puppets, and animated characters transform the real-world into another reality and provide fun for all of the family.

Illumination Sensation

Everyone loves a great fireworks show, and Texans know how to create something special. Each evening this show brings together fireworks, liquid-fire fountains, and other pyrotechnics. Their spectacular forms are reflected in the waters below which can create a magical experience for all.

We can’t wait to see you there! We have over 40,000+ customers, so we look forward to seeing familiar faces and also meeting some new ones!
